Informativa sulla privacy di PolyDuel
In breve
Chi tratta i dati
Avversari e bot
Come cancellare tutto
I tuoi diritti
PolyDuel privacy notice
Summary
PolyDuel is a language learning game. Playing on your own needs no data from you: your progress stays on your phone. For online duels we keep only what is needed to run them. We never ask for your email, phone number or location.
Who is responsible
Data controller: Agere Lab di Nicola Cioffi, Via Vincenzo Gioberti 26, 81030 Orta di Atella (CE), Italy, VAT IT04845660614. Questions or requests: ciao@agerelab.online.
What stays on your phone
Chosen languages and level, cards seen, mistakes to review, daily streak and best scores. This data is not sent to us and is removed when you uninstall the app.
What we store for online duels
- Game name you choose, shown to other players.
- Anonymous code created when you choose your name, so we can recognise your device without an email or password account. Its first 8 characters form the player code shown in your Profile.
- Your statement that you are at least 14, with the date you made it.
- App language, the date and version of your consent to this notice and the version of the terms of use you accepted.
- Matches: level, language, opponent, your answers, answer times, points and result.
- Card statistics: how often a card was played and missed, as totals not linked to your name.
- Reports: if you report an opponent's name we store who reported whom, the reason and the date; reports are not visible to other players.
- Date of your last activity, used to delete inactive profiles.
The server provider may record technical connection data (for example your IP address) in its security and operation logs.
Why, and on what basis
- Running duels (name, matches, points, opponents, declared age): this is the game service you ask for by accepting the terms of use, so the basis is performance of a contract (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
- Security and abuse prevention (technical logs, name reports, rule enforcement): our legitimate interest in keeping the game safe and fair for everyone (Art. 6(1)(f)). You can object by writing to us.
- Legal obligations, for example answering requests from authorities (Art. 6(1)(c)).
The box you tick when choosing your name confirms that you have read this notice and accepted the terms. You can stop at any time by deleting your profile. We do not sell data and we do not profile you.
Opponents and bots
When you look for a duel you may play against a round already recorded by another player at the same level and in the same language. In the same way, your round, with your game name and points, may be used as an opponent by other players for a few days.
Bots may be used to create matches: if no opponent is found within a few seconds, you play against a bot.
Any player can report an opponent's name. When a name receives several reports from different players it is hidden from others and replaced with a generic name such as "Giocatore_1a2b". If you change your name, the reports on the previous name are deleted.
Where the data is kept and who helps us
We use two providers, which process data only on our behalf and following our instructions:
- Supabase: duel servers and database, in the European Union (Frankfurt, Germany).
- Cloudflare: hosts PolyDuel's web pages, such as this one.
If a provider ever processes data outside the European Union, the transfer is covered by the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission. We do not share data with anyone else for their marketing.
How long
- Your profile is kept until you delete it, or until 12 months after your last match: after 12 months of inactivity it is deleted automatically, together with its matches and the anonymous code.
- Finished matches are deleted 12 months after they end; unfinished duels expire after a few days.
- An anonymous code that was never given a name is deleted after 30 days.
- Server backups are overwritten: within 30 days of deletion the data is gone from them too.
How to delete everything
Open Profile and tap Delete online profile: your name, matches, answers, points, reports and the anonymous sign-in code are removed from the server and cannot be recovered. Data stored only on your phone is removed when you uninstall the app.
Without the app (for example if you have already uninstalled it): write to ciao@agerelab.online with your game name and, if you have it, the player code shown in your Profile. Since there is no email or password, these two details are how we find the right profile. We reply within 30 days.
Advertising
The app shows no ads today. In the future we may show ads through Google AdMob, which uses device identifiers to serve and measure ads. Before that happens we will update this notice and ask for your consent where the law requires it. Ads will not be personalised unless you allow it, and will not be shown to anyone who has not confirmed being at least 14.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or delete your data, restrict its use, receive a copy or object to its processing by writing to the contact above. You can also complain to the data protection authority in your country.
Children
Online duels are not intended for anyone under 14: before you choose a name we ask you to confirm that you are at least 14. Anyone who says they are younger plays offline only and no data is sent. If we find that we hold data of a child under 14, we delete it.
Cookies
The app uses no cookies. PolyDuel's web pages use no profiling cookies and no third-party tracking or analytics tools.
Terms of use
The game rules (conduct, names, bots, liability) are in the terms of use.
Changes
If we change this notice we update the version and date above; for important changes we ask you again in the app.
